It is an art academy, committed to the culture of Tibetan embroidery, and established with the support of the government.此地最早是滇藏茶马古道上的官方驿站,如今它是当地政府重点保护的历史建筑。也是目前中国藏区规模最大、影响力最深的少数民族刺绣艺术院。
This place was, in the past, an official station on the Southern Tea-Horse Road, and today the government protects it as an important historical landmark. It is also the largest and most influential ethnic minority embroidery institute in Tibetan areas of China today.
主体建筑为传统藏式风格,建筑面积为1200多平方米,绣师近200名。
The Institute’s main building was constructed according to a traditional Tibetan design, at 1200 square meters, and employing more than 200 embroidery teachers.
藏绣文化艺术院的宗旨在于保护、传承及推广藏区少数民族刺绣文化为主,并积极配合当地政府领导和学校做好藏绣的培训和教学,努力携同社会上的一切力量,寻求藏绣的发展与创新,最终把藏绣作为当地的重要产业来推动藏区社会经济的发展。
The purpose of the Tibetan Embroidery Academy is to protect, disseminate, and promote ethnic minority embroidery; to cooperate with local government leaders and schools to create educational programs in Tibetan embroidery; to develop and innovate upon Tibetan embroidery; and finally, to spur social and economic development in Tibetan areas by establishing Tibetan embroidery as an important local industry.
